As a landfill for reactors, the landfill in Cholwald is used for depositing sewage sludge ash, construction waste and contaminated soil. The objective of the project was to add a fourth landfill to the three existing cells at the site. The work was done in two different stages between 2012 – 2013. WALO’s task was to build a “channel” consisting of asphalt liner to ensure that the lines of the deep drainage system could be attached to a shaft building. This “channel” acts as a reinforcement for the overlying pipes for the event that leakages occur in the lines. It is concealed by the shaft building on the slope.
