Tunnelling and mine-gallery construction has a long tradition at Walo Bertschinger. For more than 50 years, the company has been implementing underground construction projects of all sizes and degrees of complexity, using every kind of construction technique.

No matter what the task at hand, be it underground infrastructural works for road and rail systems, supply and disposal of water, waste water and electricity, the construction of new facilities as well as the rehabilitation or repair of existing underground structures: WALO covers the entire range of underground construction services.

This is not limited to tasks in normal conditions, but also includes work in the toughest geological environments:

Driving into hard rock by means of blasting or by using tunnel-boring or part-face heading machines
Driving into unconsolidated deposits using shield drivers or machine-assisted construction (including reinforcement measures)
