Industrial floor and underlay layers perform a fundamental task. They literally do the groundwork for the entire project. Selecting suitable materials, they ensure that the building has adequate thermal and sound insulation and/or produce industrial floor surfaces required to withstand heavy loads. These tasks require the use of high-tech machinery. The finishing of the floor surface requires a touch of subtle finesse.

• Duration of apprenticeship: three years
• School: Theoretical lessons at the vocational college for traffic infrastructure engineers. Specialised training begins in the third year of the apprenticeship. Inter-cantonal introductory courses supplement the practical activities and vocational college lessons.
• Federal Vocational Baccalaureate: if a very good level of academic performance is achieved, it is also possible to complete the upper-secondary commercial school.
