The entire road superstructure (roadbed, kerbs, surfaces) and the utility pipes for water and natural gas were renewed along 28 sections of road, each between 70 and 160 metres long. New lines for transporting the lake water had to be installed to power the energy services provided by the local electricity plant in Zurich (EWZ). All waste had to be disposed of in accordance with a special waste disposal strategy that was drawn up prior to commencement of the project. The channels close to the lake were located up to two metres below the groundwater level. The bored sheet pile wall lining varied between six and twelve metres and was installed using the “Silent Piler Method”.
