Noise protection walls had to be erected in the municipalities of Brig and Naters due to high noise emission levels from the SBB and BLS railway. Today, the walls extend from the Simplon car terminal to the lowest part of the BLS southern ramp.
Noise protection walls had to be erected in the municipalities of Brig and Naters due to high noise emission levels from the SBB and BLS railway. Today, the walls extend from the Simplon car terminal to the lowest part of the BLS southern ramp.
Displacement and micro piles were used for parts of the wall foundation. The structures were installed on concrete walls or slabs. The pedestrian underpass at Brig railway station had to be adapted. A steel structure was erected on the underpass to support the glass noise-protection walls and the roof structure. The existing underpasses around Brig railway station and the underpass in Furkastrasse also had to be widened. At 947-metres-long, the overall project consists of elements made of lava concrete, glass and aluminium.
